ROCKWELL, N.C. -- Authorities in Rowan County have arrested a man after finding evidence that marijuana plants were growing on his property.

Kenneth Lee Newsome was arrested on Tuesday and charged with manufacture of a controlled substance Schedule VI, possession of a controlled substance Schedule VI and maintain a dwelling or vehicle for a controlled substance.

Authorities say nine marijuana plants were located on his property in the 8300 block of Fisher Road in Rockwell.

Newsome owned the property, and was currently constructing a new residence there, authorities say. They continued there was evidence that Newsome cared for the plants at the location.

His bond was set at $5000.
