CHESTER, S.C. -- An experienced skydiver died Sunday from injuries sustained during a jump with Skydive Carolina.
Skydive Carolina tells NBCCharlotte an experienced skydiver succumbed to injuries sustained during a routine jump with Skydive Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
The skydiver had made more than 5500 jumps over the course of a 30-year career in the sport.
The Associated Press reports the victim is 65-year-old Wolfgang Langehans, of Columbia. An autopsy is planned for Monday.
The Federal Aviation Administration says their preliminary investigation indicates the parachute did not deploy after the skydiver jumped from 13,000 feet from a Cessna 208 aircraft.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
