CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department reports that more than 2,400 gallons of wastewater spilled in two separate incidents in the last week.

The first, last Saturday, a blockage of kitchen grease and debris spilled more than 1,300 gallons of wastewater in the 3700 block of Chepstow Court, that reached nearby Mallard Creek.

Crews were able to stop the spill and make repairs. No dead fish were found associated with the overflow, officials say.

The second, on Wednesday, occurred in the 4900 block of Morgan Street. Utility authorities say just under 1,100 gallons of wastewater reached Stewart Creek. Again, crews were able to stop the spill and make repairs, and no adverse affects on wildlife were found.
