YORK, S.C. -- Authorities in York are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl.

York police said the teen was outside of a gas station on West Liberty Street just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

She was approached by a man who asked her if she needed a ride. When she said no the man got out of his vehicle, grabbed and punched her.

The teen was able to kick him in the groin and get away, police said.

The man got back in his car and drove away. Police said the man was driving a black car with no headlights when he pulled up to the teen.
