HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- The parking lot was full and the golf balls covered the greens Thursday at Birkdale Golf Club in Huntersville.

Birkdale reopened on Fourth of July, just in time for locals to enjoy the holiday.

The Department of Revenue closed the club Tuesday for failure to pay thousands of dollars in taxes. Authorities returned the keys to management once the taxes were paid the following day.

Other investigations into the club continue for disputes over payment with vendors and employees.
