KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- The Rowan County Sheriff's Office arrested two Cabarrus County residents following an undercover heroin operation.

On Saturday, narcotics officers with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office arrested 28-year-old Charles Wayne Laney, III, and 22-year-old Amber Maree Hope Steggall at their home in Kannapolis.

Authorities say Laney sold heroin to an undercover deputy on three occasions.

Laney is charged with eight counts of conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin in connection with those occasions, according to officials.

Steggall is charged with one count of conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin in connection with one of those occasions, the Sheriff's Office says.

Laney's bond is set at $100,000, while Steggall's is set at $5000.
