STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Elisa Baker's trial for drug trafficking charges in Statesville is being delayed a couple of months, the Western District Court of North Carolina confirmed on Wednesday.

Her attorneys said they need a little more time to prepare for her case, and a federal judge agreed
with a request to push back the start of the trial to November.

She is also on trial for the murder of her step-daughter, 10-year-old Zahra Baker.

Last month, a judge in Catawba County granted a change of venue motion on the murder charges.

One month from Friday, that same judge will rule where that trial will be headed.

Zahra Baker's remains were found in Catawba County last year. She had a prosthetic leg because of her fight with bone cancer.

Elisa Baker is the only person charged criminally in the case.
