FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Another North Carolina hospital is restricting visitors because of a high number of flu cases.

The Fayetteville Observer reports Cape Fear Valley Medical Center announced the measures Friday. Children younger than 12 are not allowed to visit, and emergency room patients are allowed only one visitor.

Cape Fear's emergency department diagnosed 323 flu cases from Sunday through Thursday.

On Thursday, Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton and FirstHealth's Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst announced similar restrictions.

Officials at Cape Fear also have announced plans to reduce the center's public entrances from 35 to eight and require all visitors to get ID badges starting Jan. 1.

A spokesman said the hospital has been developing enhancements to security for some time, and the move is not related to a specific threat.
