UNION COUNTY, N.C. The Union County Sheriff s office said Monday they were building cases against sweepstakes operators.

Friday, the North Carolina Supreme Court upheld a law banning the video games run by businesses that often mimic small, electronic casinos.

The Supreme Court has issued its ruling, and we re ready to move on it, said Sheriff Eddie Cathey. Sweepstakes operators in Union County had best move on.

In a press release sent to media on Monday, the department mentioned that the battle between N.C. law enforcement and the game operators has been contentious for many years.

Officials gave no specific time frame for their enforcement of the Supreme Court s ruling, only to note that deputies would begin building cases immediately.
