CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The smells and smiles were everywhere you looked Sunday at the Charlotte Rescue Mission.
Charlotte Rescue Mission feeds hundreds on Easter
We got grits, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausages patties, said Head Chef Marcus King as he paused for a moment to speak before going back to his tasks of making sure things were moving along smoothly.
The mission provides hot meals to hundreds of Charlotte's homeless population on a daily basis.
The only difference Sunday was the dozens of volunteers that spent a large part of their Easter Sunday preparing and serving the homeless.
The Rescue Mission expected to serve more than 1,400 meals between breakfast and lunch.
The mission will also let people call a family member or friend, since many of them have no way to reach out to their loved ones.
One of the key programs the Rescue Mission offers is Rebound, which helps those addicted to drugs and alcohol try to kick their habits.
