(KMOV.com) -- A 6-year-old boy was dropped off at a Kansas City, Mo. fire station Monday after his father told firefighters he couldn t handle the little boy any longer.

Missouri s Safe Haven Law allows parents to drop off a baby up to one-year-old at a fire station, hospital or law enforcement building with no questions asked.

He s only there when he wants to be around, not when little Donald Junior needs him to be around, said the boy s mother, Alisha Lattimore. I m a true believer of my mama and my dad in my life. And that s what I want for my son.

Lattimore said her son is okay and he doesn t really understand the fight between his parents.

She said he only remembers the fire station he visited on Monday.
