CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Supporters of the $290M schools bond package mixed a little politics and Panthers enthusiasm Sunday.

They called their efforts Tailgating for Education Bonds . The money would be used to build three new schools.

Also on the ballot, four at large City Council seats, six Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board seats, and a bond issue for Central Piedmont Community College.
