CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- HazMat crews responded to the scene of a natural gas line rupture in south Charlotte on Monday afternoon.

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to the area of Rea and Colony Roads about 10 minutes before 1 on Monday afternoon.

The intersection of Rea Road and Colony Road is closed while crews work to stop the natural gas leak. Officials expect Rea Road to remain closed through Monday evening.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
