CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Rain is expected to move through the Charlotte region overnight and into Friday morning.
The rain could make for wet roads during Friday's morning commute. The rain is moving in from the south where a system has been dumping heavy rain in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Today will be mostly cloudy skies with the chance of a few scattered showers. Highs will be in the upper 50s, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
The system is moving very slowly and is expected to move into the Charlotte area over the next 15-20 hours, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
The heavy part of the system will move in around 3 a.m. Friday and will bring scattered showers throughout the Piedmont region.
The rain will give way to nice weather this weekend with temperatures in the 70s.
