GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- The woman convicted of second-degree murder and seven other charges in connection with a 2008 fatal hit-and-run will get a new trial.

An appellate court overturned Charla Davis' conviction, saying that the prosecution should not have been allowed to admit evidence of Davis' previous DWI convictions.

In 2009 Davis was convicted of hitting and killing Ronnie Eudy, a Good Samaritan who had stopped to help a driver on the Wilkinson Boulevard Bridge. She was sentenced to over 30 years in prison.
