CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte school was briefly placed on lockdown after a reported shooting near campus on Thursday afternoon.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials placed Thomasboro Academy on lockdown around 12:50 p.m. while police investigate a shooting that happened near campus.

The lockdown was lifted at 1:30 p.m. after officials determined there was no direct threat to the students or faculty on campus.

The school is located in west Charlotte off of Bradford Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said there was a reported shooting not too far from Bradford Drive, but they have not yet found a crime scene or victim.
