CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Fog caused problems for local commuters on the road and at the Charlotte Douglas Airport Thursday morning.

Zero visibility was reported shortly after 8 a.m. at the airport. The FAA has delayed outbound flights for an average of 40 minutes.

The FAA also reported that inbound flights are not landing at the airport until 9 a.m.

A four car accident on the inner loop of Interstate 485 near Providence Road caused big delays for sometime Thursday morning. Congestion and fog caused problems for commuters as they try to get around this accident.

Delays are slowed traffic to 25 mph near Poplar Tent Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard.

There wasn't any reported accidents due to fog, but several delays were reported on Interstate 77 and 85 because of the fog.

Fog iwas a problem in areas in south and north Charlotte, with visibilities near zero in parts of Catawba, Caldwell, Burke, Alexander, northern Iredell and Rowan counties.
