CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Four people and several pets escaped a house fire in the Derita neighborhood Monday morning.

The fire was reported about 3:45 a.m. at a house on Jackson Drive, in the Derita community.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the attic when they arrived. Four residents and six dogs were not injured, according to our news partner The charlotte Observer.

Fire official are still investigating the cause of the fire.
