MOUNT ULLA, N.C. -- A West Rowan High School student faces drug and weapon charges after authorities discovered both items in his vehicle during school hours on Wednesday.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, school administration got a tip that a student had marijuana and a weapon in his vehicle.

Authorities searched the student's car, they found a container that had marijuana residue. The student also had a black jack weapon in the glove box, according to sheriff's office.

Deputies said the student was issued two citations for the drugs and for having a weapon on campus.
