CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police continue to investigate a shooting death in east Charlotte off Albermarle Road.

The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. Investigators on the scene along Albemarle Road near Reddman Road tell NBCCharlotte one person was shot in the back.

The victim, 52-year-old Franklin Festus Igwilo, was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center.

Detectives say the Igwilo was dropped off in the 6000 block of Albermarle Road by someone drdriving a dark colored Maxima or Camry. After the vehicle left the scene, an altercation happened between Igwilo and the suspect, according to investigators.

Igwilo was shot, and the suspect left the scene on foot.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
