CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say alcohol was a factor in a head-on collision Saturday evening that injured two people.

At 6:19, police say Victor Manuel Ramirez, 46, went to pass another eastbound vehicle in a no-passing zone in the 6300 block of Old Concord Road when he struck a Nissan head-on.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to CMCMain with serious and potentially life threatening injuries. Ramirez was also taken to CMCMain, but authorities say his injuries were minor.

The CMPD preliminary investigation showed alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

Ramirez is charged with driving while impaired, felony serious injury by vehicle and improper passing. His bonds totaled $12,500.
