HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) -- The president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority says he's hopeful that the slight recovery the market saw in the spring will continue into the fall.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported (http://bit.ly/16mgfID) that Tom Conley says he's looking forward to seeing whether the market improvement continues. The market opened Saturday and continues through Thursday.

On Sunday, analyst Jerry Epperson will present a report on the furniture industry. He expects a much improved selling environment because of higher employment, low mortgage rates and rising home sales.

The market attracts more than 75,000 people to High Point for its twice-a-year shows and is open only to those who work in the furniture industry.
