MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities have identified the victim in a single vehicle crash on I-77 southbound Saturday.

The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. Saturday south of the Mt. Holly Huntersville Road.

NCHPsays 44-year-old Juan Dejesus Garay was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Tire marks at the scene indicated Garay made a sharp jerk, officials said.

A stranded motorist witnessed the accident through their rear-view mirror, but it's still not clear what caused Garay to jerk his vehicle.

In a photo tweeted by the Huntersville FireDepartment, the truck involved was flipped on it's side; debris could be seen strewn throughout the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, NCHPsays.
