CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A newly released report may make donors think twice before giving money to someone on the street.

According to a survey conducted by Center City Partners, nearly 90 percent of panhandlers in Charlotte aren t actually homeless.

Some of them are even earning up to $150 per day.

The survey also found Charlotte s homeless population is shrinking. Volunteers identified 171 people living outdoors compared to 283 last year. The majority of people interviewed in the survey have been homeless for more than a year.
