GUILIFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- The Guilford County Animal Shelter is caring for dozens of dogs this morning after they were rescued from a suspected puppy mill.

Sixty Australian shepherds were seized from an operation in Hertford County, in the northeastern part of North Carolina.

Thirteen are puppies.

The Guilford County Animal Shelter took in 31 of the dogs, which desperately need socialization and medical attention.

The dogs the shelter is now caring for range from 4 weeks old to seniors.
