CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Patrick Cannon has kept virtually out of sight since his arrest on federal public corruption charges this week.
He is believed to have stayed inside his home in Ballantyne, where there was a visit Friday for the Pastor of Elevation Church, Steven Furtick.
Furtick stayed inside the Cannon's home on Cumnor Lane in Ballantyne for over an hour and appeared to be carrying a bible when he left.
Furtick did not stop to talk to reporters but a statement issued by the church said:
Pastor Steven Furtick visited the Cannon family in their home today to pray for them during this most trying time in their lives. Our church will continue to pray for the Cannon family and all of the leaders of the city of Charlotte in the days to come.
It was Furtick who also delivered a prayer when Cannon was sworn in as mayor last year.
Cannon's wife Trenna has not been implicated in the corruption investigation but she is feeling some of the fallout.
Until last Wednesday when Patrick Cannon was arrested, she had worked as a real estate agent with Allen Tate Real Estate of Charlotte.
On Friday, company spokesperson Karen Murray said, She is no longer associated with the company.
A company internal memo said her real estate license had been surrendered back to the state.
Trenna Cannon was seen driving out of the couple's home Friday afternoon.
She returned a while later but ignored the reporters camped out on the street near the driveway.
