CONCORD, N.C. One of the most common complaints from veterans is the how difficult it s been for many of them to find jobs when they leave military service.

In Concord, some 40 local and national companies tried to help by putting on a job fair specifically for military veterans.

Several hundred vets turned out to talk to the company representatives who answered questions about job opportunities and took down names and collected resumes.

You got to make sure you got that mentality and go out there and stick with it and go with it, said Bruce Brock who is about to retire from the U.S. Marine Corp. and knew he had to start looking for a job as soon as possible.

The vets, who moved slowly from one booth to another, were young, but many were older and had been looking for work for months.

Bank of America was the sponsor and spokesperson Josh Renick said the bank was always looking to hire vets because of their experience.

We do have programs for senior leadership out of the military, Renick said.

That is good news for Nicole Darden, the wife of a military veteran who came to the job fair hoping to find some kind of a position.

Darden said it is tough for any family when one of them is out of work.

We have to support each other and if we don t support each other, then we are not going any further, she said.

Among the companies taking part along with Bank of America were Home Depot and G&W Equipment.

Bruce Addison is 57-years-old and said it is difficult to find a job the older you get.

You don t think of yourself as aged but everyone else does.

Addison was looking for a job as a lab analyst. He said, If there is anything that can be analyzed in a lab, I can do it.
