CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- To thank our current and former service members this Veteran s Day, the outpouring of support from local businesses and national chains seems stronger than ever.

Harris Teeter is giving active duty and veterans 11 percent off their grocery bills! This is after any VIC discount or coupons are applied.

Mostly Chocolate on Selwyn Avenue selling premium very delicious treats, is offering a free candy bar to veterans today. I saw the sign as I was walking by their shop today. I m told the owner is a veteran himself, and he wanted to show appreciation.

Sleep Number, the folks who made adjustable beds and pillows, has an excellent offer through Monday. With a Military ID, active members and vets can get a free travel pillow! Call the location ahead of time just to make sure they ve got the product in stock.

Even Living Social has a special Veteran s Day group buying deal. For $15, you can send a care package to our armed forces. The USO will compile a care package and you will get an American flag. What a great excuse to buy a Living Social deal.

Toyota has put together a Scion care package you can request here. It ll include a hat, deck of cards and some other nifty freebies, like an hour of internet access.

Bobby mentioned this earlier, but WikiWki carwash is offering free washes for vets until 8pm tonight! This is for all military servicemembers. (Call 704.527.4450 for details.)

Dining Offers: Restaurants have really stepped up to the plate this year (no pun intended) to offer free dining deals today or through the weekend. Some restaurant have free appetizers, others free complete meals. Check out the links and call your location ahead to time for all the details. Some require military ID, others have different requirements. Also note: Each restaurant offers their deal on a different day, some are on Monday.
