CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to the NoDa neighborhood Monday morning after an armed robbery at an ATM.
Police say the incident took place around 10 a.m. at the Fifth Third Bank ATM at 3123 North Davidson Street.
Officials say two black men, who were both armed, robbed a man and then fled the scene on foot.
One of the suspects had on a red hat, and both were in black and green, police said.
Last week, four banks in the Charlotte area were robbed, and only one of the alleged robbers was caught. There have already been nearly 50 bank robberies in Charlotte thus far in 2012, compared to 30 total through the first three months of 2011 and 38 through the first three months of 2010.
The number of reported bank robberies has fallen statewide over the last five years. A total of 129 bank robberies were reported in North Carolina in 2011 compared to 263 in 2007.
