CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two California delegates were sent back home before the Democratic National Convention actually kicked off.
Tenoch Flores, a spokesman with the California Democratic Party, said in a statement that the party received reports that indicated two members of the delegation were intoxicated when they arrived at the Blake Hotel in uptown on Saturday.
One of them passed out and hotel staff called for an ambulance. They say the other man started an argument with paramedics. The delegate was not arrested.
Police were called to the hotel and the delegate was asked to leave. The man who was taken to the hospital recovered and was released, Flores said.
Democratic party officials later sent the two delegates back to California. Neither delegate has been identified.
