ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. Authorities say they ve arrested a man in connection to trafficking opium.

The Rowan County Sheriff s Office said a traffic stop Thursday on Webb Road led to 1,000 dosages of controlled substances and $17,000 in cash.

Investigators arrested and charged Ricky Ray Shackleford, 51, of Fox Run Road in Salisbury. He was arrested on multiple counts of level III opium trafficking.

In a press release sent to media, officers said they found a large quantity of prescription pain medication and United States currency were found in his possession during the traffic stop.

Shackleford was placed under a $50,000 secured bond at the Rowan County Detention Center.
