CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man will spend life in prison without the possibility of parole for fatally shooting a man over a Facebook post.

A Mecklenburg County jury Wednesday found Jeremiah Lamont Luke, 35, guilty of murdering 30-year-old Mikal Lee Legrande during a November 2011 shooting.

During the three-day trial, jurors listened to testimony that Luke confronted Legrande on Wallace Road in Charlotte about comments that Legrande had posted on Facebook. Luke fatally shot Legrande in the chest during the argument, prosecutors said.

Luke claimed he acted in self-defense, but after deliberating for two hours, the jury convicted him of first-degree murder.

Luke is currently serving out another prison sentence for attempted trafficking of cocaine in Mecklenburg County.
