GASTONIA, N.C. -- A fire broke out at a Gastonia school early Wednesday morning.

The Gastonia Fire Department responded to Webb Street School at 5:40 a.m. for a fire in a storage trailer.

Upon arrival, smoke and flames were seen coming from the trailer. Firefighters had the fire under control quickly. There was no damage to the school itself, fire officials said.

The trailer stored surplus desk, chairs and other equipment and furniture. The trailer was not a total loss, but the contents were deemed not salvageable, according to firefighters.

The Gastonia Fire Department, Gastonia Police Department and the Gaston County Fire Marshal s Office are investigating the fire.
