IREDELLCOUNTY, N.C. -- The Iredell County Sheriff's Office arrested a convicted felon following a traffic stop on I-40.

Authorities say an overwhelming odor of marijuana and malt beverages coming from a 2006 Dodge Charger in a traffic stop on I-40 prompted them to do a search of the vehicle.

In the search, officials report recovering a .40 semi-automatic pistol, .32 revolver, an open malt beverage and seven grams of marijuana. One of the firearms, authorities say, was reported stolen out of Chattanooga, TN.

The Sheriff's Office says convicted felon Marqual Laron Hudgins, who has served time for second-degree attempted murder and aggravated robbery, claimed all of the illegal contents of the vehicle.

Hudgins was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana and open container.

He was booked in to the Iredell County Detention center under a $20,000 bond.
