RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. Investigators have found a body near the area where a missing Rock Hill woman s truck was found.

Saturday, the Ash-Rand Rescue s Search and Rescue team found the body along Pisgah Covered Bridge Road at the intersection of Pisgah Church Road in southern Randolph County.

In August Susan Peterson s car, a white 2009 Ford Ranger, was discovered in the same area, just outside of Asheboro. Peterson s brother reported her missing Wednesday, August 14, when she didn t come home from donating blood plasma in Charlotte.

The body was found at a make shift shelter in a very dense wooded area. Investigators believe the person found -- constructed a shelter out of large black garbage bags tied to tree saplings.

Officials said they found food, water bottles, books, hand tools, and a suitcase.

At this point in the investigation no identification was found, investigators said.

It appeared that the person had been deceased for several weeks due to advanced decomposition, authorities said.

The body was discovered after a planned training event for the search team. They chose the area to train based on the discovery of Peterson s vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing into the identity of the person found.

The final conclusion will be made by the Medical Examiner s Office, officials said.
