CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There is one fewer candidate for North Carolina's 12th congressional seat.

James Mitchell, a former Charlotte City Council member and mayoral candidate, withdrew from the race Monday.

Mitchell said the crowded field of candidates in the democratic primary made it hard to raise enough money for a successful campaign.

Now, he'll focus on his family and career.
