SHELBY, N.C. -- A local cold case homicide dating back to April 1993 has been reopened, according to the attorney general s office.

Judith McMurray, 53, was found in the office of the mobile home sales business, Penstar Homes, where she worked in Cleveland County. She was stabbed at least once.

The SBI received a court order to exhume McMurray s body in order to search for more evidence. The Cleveland County Sheriff s Office said detectives want to find enough evidence that can lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

McMurray will be exhumed on Thursday at a Fallston, N.C. cemetery.

A motive was not determined after the crime.

There is also evidence that a fire was set, probably after she had been stabbed and probably an attempt to cover up the crime itself, Dan Crawford with the SBI told NBC Charlotte in 1993.

The coroner said McMurray had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the front of her body.
