ROCKHILL, S.C.-- Rock Hill police said a teen died after losing control of his car and slamming into a tree Thursday night.

Police said16-year-old Frankie Lane Adams crashed his 1999 Acura into a tree on Heckle Boulevard near Wade Hampton Boulevard around 11 p.m.

After losing control of the vehicle Adams ran off of the road and struck a light pole on the passenger side, then hit two trees, according to the police report.

Excessive speed is believed to be the primary factor in the crash, police said.
