FORTMILL, S.C. -- Two Dollar Tree employees were robbed at gunpoint Sunday night.

The York County Sheriff's Office responded to the 800 block of Stockbridge Drive in Fort Mill around 9:15 Sunday night.

Two female employees who had just closed the store for the evening and were walking to their cars were approached by two black male suspects.

One of the victims was carrying the store's night deposit in her purse when the suspects presented themselves.

As the victims approached their vehicles, they told officials the two suspects walked up, one pointed a gun at one of the victim's stomach and demanded her purse. She threw down her bag, and she and the other victim ran back towards the store.

The suspects fled toward Stockbridge Drive between two businesses.

The victims told deputies they heard a gunshot ring as the suspects fled.

The Sheriff's Office dispatched a K-9 unit, which found a track and located a fresh set of wheel spin marks in the gravel parking lot of Grace Presbyterian Church.

Deputies also found a spent shell casing on the embankment nearby.

If you have any information on this case, you're asked to contact the York County Sheriff's Office.
