Fort Mill man accused of stabbing, hitting wife with car
Michael Dwayne Barber, 48, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Orangeburg County deputies say Barber and his wife missed a cruise ship to the Bahamas from a New York port because they did not have proper identification. The two picked up their identification and rented a car to drive to Florida to meet the ship.
Deputies say early Monday morning the two got into an argument and got off Interstate 26 at the Saint Matthews Road exit, where Barber grabbed a boxcutter and cut his wife's neck. They say he then hit her with the car while trying to leave the area.
His wife suffered deep cuts. She managed to get help and was taken to the hospital. Deputies later arrested Barber at an Orangeburg restaurant.
An Orangeburg judge has denied bond for Barber.
