CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Dilworth is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Charlotte and after this past 4th of July holiday weekend, it's obvious that burglars like it too.
Thieves target Dilworth homes
"It looks like they tried to break in here with some sort of crow bar or something and the lock here snapped and gave way," said Peden Harris.
It looks like they tried to break in here with some sort of crow bar or something and the lock here snapped and gave way, said Peden Harris.
His home, along with four others, were broken into along McDonald Avenue and Lyndhurst Drive.
Found this area seemed quite pleasant so decided to move here and I had no problems before this happened.
Harris moved in about a year-and-a-half ago.
The burglar alarm scared the thieves away from one of the houses.
Harris showed us where they busted down a door inside his home and stole valuable electronics and personal items.
Police have asked neighbors to lookout for one another, but it may be difficult to tell who doesn't belong.
There are always contractors and always different people in this neighborhood so it's hard to say maybe this guy doesn't belong, because there are lots of different people coming through, said Matthew Lowry, a resident.
Police think the same people are responsible, but they won t know for sure until they make an arrest.
