BESSEMER CITY, N.C. -- Firefighters from three different fire departments had to battle a house fire in Bessemer City Sunday afternoon.

First responders from Crowder s Mountain Fire & Rescue, Bessemer City Fire Department, and Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department were able to put out the fire at the home on East Washington Avenue after battling it for more than a half hour.

Crews arriving on scene just before 2 p.m. immediately encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from he one-story home

A total of 20 personnel were on the scene.

The fire displaced a family of six and the house was heavily damage.

Nobody was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force.
