CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte investigators are asking for public assistance to find a man they say backed into a patrol car and fled the scene.

An officer attempted to pull over the man as he was driving down South Tryon Street around 9 p.m. Friday.

The suspect eventually pulled over in the parking lot of Roseland Apartments. Police say he disobeyed their commands, put the car in reverse and drove into their vehicle. He attempted to flee the scene in the stolen car, according to officers, but crashed into a dumpster. The man then took off on foot.

None of the officers involved were hurt.

The suspect is described as a black around 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black doo rag.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
