CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have joined family and friends in the search for 36-year-old Max Espinoza.
The disc jockey--known as DJ Max--was last seen leaving a house party he was deejaying on Commons Crossing Drive in south Charlotte around 1 a.m. last Sunday. Police said he sent two text messages to friends just before 2 a.m. indicating he was going home.
Espinoza's roommate said he never made it to the house.
He just never showed up. That's just not like him to not show up for kids, said ex-wife Erin Espinoza. Her former husband has dinner with her and their two daughters every Monday. They share custody.
It was the hardest thing I've had to do in my life, tell them Daddy's missing and we don't know where he is, said Espinoza. It's a living nightmare.
Friends told NewsChannel 36 that Espinoza's phone now goes straight to voicemail. Detectives are checking phone records and said he hasn't picked up paychecks from work.
Espinoza's 2006 white Volvo S60 is also missing. The North Carolina tag number is AFT-5382.
