CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One week after a mass shooting at a Sikh Temple in Wisconsin that left seven people dead members of the local Sikh community welcomed the public to their temple in northeast Charlotte.

The temple hosted and welcomed people of other faiths and cultures into their sanctuary.

Police Chief Rodney Monroe was in attendance. They re hoping to teach the public more about their religion which is the fifth largest in the world.

Hatred is out there, but on the other hand there's a lot of love out there. People want to learn about other cultures, other religions, and other ways of life. And that we all share in the tragedy in a way that helps us all grow, said Dr. Jaspal Sign of the Charlotte Sikh Temple.

There's an estimated 300 people in the local Sikh Community.
