COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities in Richland County say the man suspected of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl has told them where her body is buried.

Sheriff Leon Lott told a news conference Thursday evening that Freddie Grant, who is accused in the kidnapping of Gabbiee Swainson, led investigators where he buried her.

Deputies were at the scene in Elgin on Thursday, searching for Gabbiee's remains. The area was searched when Gabbiee disappeared last August.

Authorities say Grant had dated the girl's mother, and duct tape with Gabbiee's blood was found near his property.

Grant has already been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison on federal ammunition charges. He is awaiting trial in the girl's disappearance.
