MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Matthews Police have charged a woman in an early-February bank robbery.

Around 1:15 on Tuesday, February 4, Matthews Police responded to the BB&TBank in the 300 block of East John Street.

On Thursday, Matthews Police announced they'd charged Kelly Michelle Simmons in connection with the robbery.

Simmons is currently in custody in Cabarrus County on separate bank robbery charges. Simmons is accused of robbing the BB&Tbranch in Concord in the 9600 block of Harris Road. In that case, she's charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
