MINT HILL, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged a man responsible for several local robberies around the Charlotte area on Tuesday.
CMPDcharged 52-year-old Richard Wager with robbery and attemepted robber after officers pulled him over in a PT Cruiser on Albemarle Road late Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Wager first targeted a Dollar General on East WT Harris Boulevard on Saturday and a Circle K on Idlewild Road the following day.
The spree continued with three more known incidents on Monday. Police say Wager hit a Charlotte Dollar General location on Albemarle Road, a Dollar Tree on Idlewild Road in Mint Hill and Hancock Fabrics on East Independence in Matthews.
No one was hurt in any of the incidents. Police say he used a tool to pry open the cash register in at least one of the crimes.
Wager has been charged with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, common law robbery and attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
