Police say 23-year-old Trungquan Le Tran fell asleep at the wheel of his 2009 Honda Accord as he headed southbound on Steele Creek Road. Tran crossed the double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and struck the victim's Passat, police say.

Oehmke was airlifted from the scene and later died at the hospital, according to officials.

Tran was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, police say.
