CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Fire Department says 14 residents are displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment complex Sunday morning.

Around 12 a.m. Sunday, fire crews responded to the blaze in the 2700 block of Bellefonte Drive.

Four dozen firemen fought the flames for about a half hour to bring the fire under control.

The Red Cross is assisting the 14 displaced residents with food, clothing and shelter.

Fire officials say they determined that a 4-year-old ignited the fire in a bedroom closet.

The damages to the two-story, multi-family dwelling are estimated to be around $150,000.
